While we were living in AZ, our cat wondered off one afternoon. When she hadn't returned in 24 hours, we immediately reported her missing on the HomeAgain website, and printed off the fliers that they have ready for you to use. We posted the fliers and called the vets. We went to the shelters and asked our neighbors. She was nowhere to be found.

At five weeks with no word, we were heartbroken. We had heard coyotes howling near our home, and thought our cat, Nutmeg, was lost forever.

Then four weeks later, 9 weeks after our kitty was first missing, we received a phone call from the county shelter. They had our Nutmeg!! She had been hiding in a cactus patch in an elderly woman's yard, and as soon as the woman spotted her, she called animal control. Nutmeg had lost her collar during her time out of the house, so she had no identification on her.

The shelter told us that they scan EVERY animal that arrives in their facility. Nutmeg was the very first cat that they had seen with a chip.

Nutmeg passed away just a few days ago, and we realized that if it weren't for her HomeAgain chip, we would have lost her much earlier, and been cheated out of years with our kitty. EVERY pet owner should have their pet chipped. It is quick, painless, and very inexpensive. It can also give you time you would otherwise never have!
