I was visiting my brother at his house, with our Miniature Pinscher, Buck. That evening we decided to go out to dinner with our whole family so we placed our dog buck in my brother’s outdoor kennel. Now as you may know Min Pins are known to jump HIGH. Our Buck is no different. We do not know how he got out; however, when we got home he was gone.

We walked around my brother’s neighborhood for hours to no avail. The next day we were to go to Yellowstone National Park for the day. We were devastated. The thought of leaving our precious dog all alone for even a night was hard. All of us- my Fiancé, my two girls ( Alissa 13 Samantha, 12) cried. WE knew that buck was chipped but we had not yet registered him with our new information. So we quickly jumped on the phone at 11 o'clock that evening and spoke to a wonderful person at HomeAgain who got our new information and sent out an alert immediately.

We went to Yellowstone with a prayer in our hearts that someone would find him and do the right thing- keep him safe and take him to someone who could reach us. The day after going to Yellowstone we made the trip to Idaho Falls, which is 20 min away from our home in Rigby. We headed for the pound.

When we arrived there was another lady who was looking for a dog as well. We told her our dilemma and she offered to help look inside. When the pound opened we all ran in, looking down the many isles that contained dog after dog.

My youngest followed the lady down the last isle. With a face lit with joy, she ran to me and declared "He is here Mama, he's here!" With tears streaming we all ran to get our precious Buck. As we told the pound officer that he was our dog, she said that they had called us and left a message at our home that they had Buck.

Due to our distress we had forgotten to check our machine. They had found him 20 minutes across Idaho Falls from where my brother lives! We were stunned- his collar and tags were gone. But we were reunited thanks to his chip and the quick work of the HomeAgain specialists. We were reunited with our favorite pooch.

A special thanks goes out to the lady who seeing our love and rejoicing at getting our Buck, paid the $22 impound fee when we came up short and almost had to leave Buck there. Thank you with all of our Hearts for answering our prayers!
