Caring Dog Owner Saves the Day

My wife let my two dogs, Dreyfus and Sheenah, out for a morning bathroom run in my fenced yard. When she returned to let them in, Dreyfus could not be found. Somehow the gate was left open and Dreyfus had left the yard.

My wife contacted me at work and I rushed home to search for Dreyfus. Remembering that Dreyfus had a HomeAgain chip installed in 2008, I went to my paperwork. I retrieved the HomeAgain number and contacted them. They took my information and had me register online. There I uploaded a picture and inputted information on Dreyfus. This information was then sent out to all HomeAgain PetRescuers in the area.

I got in my car and drove around for four hours, searching the neighborhood and city, talking to everyone, but with no luck. I returned home to check the local shelter site and HomeAgain.com. I then noticed I had added an extra letter to my dog’s microchip ID! I contacted home again so this could be fixed, the young lady gladly assisted me in this process.

Not 40 minutes later I received a call from Canal Animal Hospital vet, Sheena, alerting me that a caring dog owner/client, Lisa Goldberg, had found Dreyfus and taken him in. There, Sheena and her assistant scanned Dreyfus and obtained his information. She also confirmed that it was my dog from the picture she received in the HomeAgain Lost Pet Poster email that was sent to her. Thank you to all who assisted!

  2. Verify that your contact information is correct and upload a recent picture of your missing dog, cat, or other pet.
  3. Create a Lost Pet poster using the uploaded photo.
  4. Send out Rapid Lost Pet Alerts to vet clinics, animal shelters, and PetRescuers within a 25-mile radius of where your pet was lost.

  2. Explain the situation to your Lost Pet Specialist, who will create a Lost Pet poster using the most recent photo on your pet’s HomeAgain profile.
  3. Your Lost Pet Specialist will immediately send out Rapid Lost Pet Alerts to vet clinics, animal shelters, and PetRescuers within a 25-mile radius of where your pet was lost.
