4 Months Later - Molly Lou Returns

My husband Bill, our son Wesley, who is 17 and special needs, and myself went to Disney World over spring break. We left our Pug, Molly Lou, with our beloved friends, Marcy and Geoff. They were playing with Molly Lou when the UPS guy dropped off a box. Molly Lou ran out the door and began an adventure of a lifetime.

Marcy and Geoff did everything they could to find her-- luckily we gave them the HomeAgain magnet to use if anything would happen. After trying to catch her for 1 hour -- they called HomeAgain to report her lost on April 2. We were not to get back until April 9. They made signs, walked the neighborhood, made phone calls, and visited the shelter often. They whole neighborhood was involved in finding Molly Lou. They received some notifications about Molly but no one could catch her.

I called Marcy and Geoff on April 8 to see how Molly was doing. Geoff told me what happened and Bill and I were a mess -- we did not tell Wesley as it may have upset him too much!! It was the longest 24 hours to get home.

On April 10, there was another sighting of Molly -- Bill, Wes and I were joined by Marcy and Geoff and their 3 daughters to search for Molly -- around the Clayton Animal Hospital. We looked for three hours and nothing.

During the next few weeks, we advertised in the paper and received some calls. One guy offered to give us a pug puppy for free because he saw our ad. Several people called to say they saw her running around. Once a guy called and met us to look for her and he described her perfectly but we did not find her.

Then at the end of May, on a Sunday, someone called and said they saw her, and Molly had a hurt foot. My husband and I went to look for Molly Lou. As we were walking -- Molly ran right by me and then saw my husband. She stopped, but then continued running. We continued to look for her but nothing! June through August -- we got calls here and there but nothing really. We were all beginning to lose hope.

August 7, 2010 -- HomeAgain called on my home phone, but I missed the call! Then they called on my cell phone and I answered -- the operator said "are you the owner of Molly Lou who has been missing since April 2"? Shocked, I said yes. The HomeAgain operator said these magic words: "I have someone on the line who has Molly Lou in a cage" The HomeAgain operator put us through with Clyde -- who said he had our Molly Lou. We drove as fast as we could. My son said “we need a siren dad!” I had to agree.

We got to the house and our angels had Molly in a cage and they were sitting outside next to her. Molly Lou starting whining as soon as she saw us. I cried -- and we thanked the people who used a live trap to catch her. Molly had her right front leg caught in her collar.

We took Molly to the Animal Emergency Hospital and the doctor took us she lost an eye and had an infection in her leg from being caught in the collar. They doctor there cured the infection and we left after 3 hours.

Molly Lou has returned home after 4 months and 5 days!! She is adjusting well to her new queen life. We are so excited to have her back and love her so much!

Thanks to HomeAgain, the couple in Trotwood who saved her life, all the people who helped along the way to say they saw her, and Marcy and Geoff -- they are the best!
